Marketing work splits into jobs that need different tools: writing copy, making visuals, sending email and running campaigns, getting found in search, producing video, and polishing the final text. A general chat assistant now covers more of that list than any single marketing product, and the specialist tools earn their price only for the job they are built for. This page sorts eight tools by job and lists the prices each vendor publishes as of October 2026.
How the picks were chosen
We kept tools that a small business, a freelancer or an in-house marketer can sign up for today, that publish prices, and that offer a free plan or a free trial. We picked at least one tool for each job above. Selection rests on public facts such as pricing pages, plan limits and listed features. We did not run a campaign test, and nothing here is a paid placement.
The eight tools at a glance
| Tool | Marketing job | Free option | Entry paid plan (Oct 2026) |

| ChatGPT | Copy, ideas, campaign plans | Free plan | Go, $8/mo |
| Claude | Long-form content and rewrites | Free plan | Pro, $20/mo or $17 yearly |
| Canva | Social graphics, ads, presentations | Free plan | Pro, $18/mo or $15 yearly |
| HubSpot | Email, contacts, campaigns | Free tools, up to 2 users | Starter, $20/seat/mo |
| Jasper | On-brand content for teams | 7-day trial | Pro, $69/seat/mo or $59 yearly |
| Semrush | Search, competitors, AI visibility | Free, 10 reports a day | SEO, $139/mo or $117.33 yearly |

| Grammarly | Editing and tone | Free plan | Pro, $12/mo yearly or $30 monthly |
1. ChatGPT
ChatGPT drafts the bulk of routine marketing text: email newsletters, social posts, ad variations, landing page sections and campaign plans. The free plan includes web search, file uploads and image creation; Plus adds projects, which hold a brand brief and past campaigns in one place, and custom GPTs, which turn a repeated task into a one-click tool.
Limits: it writes in a recognisable default voice unless you give it samples of yours, and it has no data on your audience. Our humanize prompts deal with the voice.
2. Claude
Claude handles the longer pieces: a blog post from interview notes, a case study from a call transcript, or a full rewrite of a tired landing page that keeps the facts. Pro adds Projects, more models and usage, and Claude Design, Slides and Docs for turning a draft into a finished file.
Limits: usage caps apply on every plan, and Max, from $100 a month, is the route for heavy daily use.
3. Canva
Canva is where the copy becomes a post, an ad or a deck. The free plan includes 1.6M+ templates, one Brand Kit and up to 20 uses of its Standard or Premium AI tools a month. Pro adds premium templates, one-click resize for every channel, background removal, social content scheduling, 5 Brand Kits and up to 200 Premium AI uses a month. Business, $25 a person a month, adds team approvals and 100 Brand Kits.
Limits: AI use is capped per month on every plan, and Ultra AI tools are not on the free plan.
4. HubSpot
HubSpot's free tools give up to 2 users the CRM, Breeze Assistant and 2,000 marketing email sends a month with HubSpot branding. Starter, at $20 a seat, adds the marketing, sales and service tools together, HubSpot's AI agents and 500 HubSpot Credits a month. Marketing Hub Professional is the step to automation at scale, with 2,000 marketing contacts and 3,000 credits.
Limits: the jump from Starter to Professional is large, Professional carries a required one-time onboarding fee of $3,000. HubSpot was also running a limited-time lower Starter price for new customers when we checked; the $20 figure is the regular one.
5. Jasper
Jasper is the one tool here built only for marketing content. Pro includes the Canvas workspace, agents for core marketing workflows, and brand settings: 2 Brand Voices, 5 Knowledge assets and 3 Audiences, so output follows your tone and product facts. The custom-priced Business plan adds agents for GEO, translation and research, a no-code agent builder and API access.
Limits: there is no free plan, and a solo marketer pays a seat price for brand controls a chat assistant with a good brief can approximate.
6. Semrush
Semrush covers keyword and competitor research, position tracking and site audits. For marketers the newer parts matter too: the AI Visibility Toolkit, $99 a month per domain billed yearly, reports how ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity mention your brand, and the Content Toolkit, $60 a month billed yearly, writes briefs and brand-voice content. Our AI SEO tools page compares it with Ahrefs and Surfer.
Limits: the free plan stops at 10 reports a day, and the full suite is the most expensive line on this page.
7. HeyGen
HeyGen makes presenter-style video from a script with an AI avatar, without a camera or studio. The free plan gives 3 videos a month up to 1 minute each, with a watermark. Creator removes the watermark and allows videos up to 30 minutes in 175+ languages and dialects, which suits product walkthroughs and localised ads.
Limits: plans are metered in credits (600 a month on Creator), and avatar video suits explainers better than brand films. For generated footage instead of presenters, see AI video generators.
8. Grammarly
Grammarly checks what you or your AI already wrote, in the browser, on desktop and on mobile. The free plan fixes spelling and grammar and shows tone, with 100 AI prompts a month. Pro adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustment, plagiarism and AI-text detection and 2,000 AI prompts a month, for up to 149 seats.
Limits: the low price needs a yearly commitment.
What to check before you pay
- Overlap. ChatGPT, Claude, Canva, HubSpot and Jasper all write copy. Pay for the writing once and choose the other tools for what only they do.
- Seats and contacts. Jasper charges per seat; email and CRM tools often charge by seat or by contact count. Price the plan for the team and the list you will have in a year.
- Credits. HeyGen and several design and video tools meter AI use in credits. Check what one finished asset costs in credits before you plan a month of content.
- Claims in the copy. AI drafts invent proof. Remove any statistic, review or result you cannot show, before it reaches a customer.
Which one to pick
- A one-person business: ChatGPT or Claude, Canva, and HubSpot's free tools.
- A content team under one brand: Jasper, with Grammarly for the final pass.
- Growth from search: Semrush, plus a chat assistant for the writing.
- Video without a camera: HeyGen.
Most marketing copy starts from the same brief. This prompt asks for one campaign across three channels:
Plan a [season or event] promotion for [business], which sells [products] to [customers]. Budget: [amount]. Channels I already use: [channels]. What I can offer: [offer]. Give me the offer in one sentence with exact terms, a four-week timeline, one email with a subject line, three social posts and the text for a sign. Do not invent sales figures, reviews or deadlines I did not give you.
