AI prompt generator
This free AI prompt generator turns a task and a few details into a clear, structured prompt you can paste into ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or any chatbot.
Think of this tool as an AI prompt maker with a form: you answer a few questions, and it writes a complete prompt with a role, the task, the context, the requirements and the output format. The fields follow OpenAI's prompting advice for ChatGPT: be clear and specific, give context, and say what tone you want. Everything happens in your browser.
How it builds the prompt
Each field becomes a labeled Markdown section, always in the same order: who the model should act as, the task, the context, the requirements, your example and the output format. Audience, tone, length and your rules go under Requirements, and the last requirement asks the model to put a question to you first if anything it needs is missing. That saves a wasted first answer.
Leave any optional field empty and it is left out of the prompt. OpenAI's help center also recommends refining from the first answer, so treat the result as a draft: run it, see what is off, and change the field that caused it.
Tips for better results
- Write the task as an instruction with a verb: "Summarize", "Rewrite", "Compare", "Plan".
- Paste the material into Context instead of describing it.
- One rule per line in Rules. Say what to do ("Use US spelling") rather than listing what not to do, as Anthropic's prompting guide suggests.
- Writing for Claude? Use the Claude prompt generator, which wraps the same parts in XML tags.
- For the reasoning behind each field, read how to write AI prompts.
FAQ
Is this an AI prompt writer?
It writes the prompt around your own words, without a model: code in your browser arranges your answers into labeled sections. If you want a model to draft the prompt from a role and a task, use the ChatGPT prompt generator; to rewrite a prompt you already have, use the prompt optimizer.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit, because the prompt is assembled by code in your browser rather than by a paid model.
Does it store what I type?
No. Nothing in the form leaves the page. The Open buttons pass the finished prompt to ChatGPT or Claude only when you click them.
Which model should I paste it into?
Any chat model. If you are unsure which to use, see ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini.
