Should I paste my document into the message or attach the file?
Either works, and pasting is what these blocks assume. Long Document Summarizer asks for the text between <document> and </document> tags, which matters when you hand over several things at once and Claude needs to know where one ends. Attach the file when it is very long or when its formatting carries meaning, and keep the tags around anything you paste alongside it.
What are the angle-bracket tags in these prompts for?
They mark where your material starts and stops. Claude follows a structure written that way closely, so contract text inside <contract> tags is read as the thing to review rather than as more instructions. Keep them when you paste, and add your own around anything else you include, such as notes on your jurisdiction or the audience for a draft.
Which of these produce an artifact, and where does it appear?
Data Artifact Builder asks for one self-contained HTML file with your data embedded, and Claude opens that in the panel beside the conversation instead of printing code at you. You can then ask for changes and it rewrites the same artifact rather than starting again. Anything that builds a document, a page or a small app behaves this way.
Is the Contract Clause Reviewer a substitute for a lawyer?
It is not. It reads only the agreement you paste, quotes clause wording verbatim and explains the risk in plain English, which is useful for arriving at a meeting knowing what to ask.
