Adobe Photoshop review: our take

Photoshop is the editor to choose when you need generative edits and full manual control in one file. Generative Fill and Generative Expand, both powered by Adobe Firefly, add, extend or remove content, and Harmonize matches a pasted object's light and color to the scene.

The Photoshop plan costs US$22.99 a month on an annual plan billed monthly, but it includes only 25 generative credits a month. The Photography plan, at US$19.99, adds Lightroom and 1,000 credits, so it is cheaper for most photographers who use the AI tools. There is a 7-day trial and a free mobile version. For batch photo work see Lightroom; for product cut-outs on a budget, Photoroom.

What Adobe Photoshop does

Photoshop is a full image editor for desktop, web and mobile that adds generative AI tools to manual editing. Generative Fill and Generative Expand add, extend or remove content using Adobe Firefly, Harmonize matches the light and color of a pasted object to its background, and Rotate Object turns objects in real time. Generative features draw on a monthly pool of credits.
