Claude SEO skill

Claude SEO is a community Claude Code plugin by Daniel Agrici. One /seo command routes to its sub-skills: a full-site audit split across parallel agents, plus single checks for schema, AI search, sitemaps and local SEO.

Claude SEO turns Claude Code into an SEO auditor. Give it a URL and it checks crawling, speed, content, structured data and AI search readiness, then writes a plan sorted by priority. It's a community project by Daniel Agrici under the MIT license, and Anthropic doesn't publish it. The repository holds 26 sub-skills and 19 specialist agents. For how skills work, see our Claude Skills manual.

What the skill does

Everything sits behind one command, /seo. A full audit first guesses the business type (SaaS, local, e-commerce, publisher or agency), hands parts of the site to separate agents and merges their findings into an SEO Health Score from 0 to 100. Its crawl follows internal links up to 500 pages and respects robots.txt. The main commands:

  • /seo page runs the checks on one URL, in more depth.
  • /seo schema finds, validates and writes Schema.org markup. The main SKILL.md tells it never to recommend HowTo schema and not to add new FAQPage markup for Google's sake.
  • /seo geo scores how quotable your pages are, checks that AI crawlers can reach them and looks for your brand on Wikipedia, Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn. Its SKILL.md treats this as ordinary SEO applied to AI answers and defers to Google's own guidance when community advice disagrees.
  • /seo local covers Google Business Profile, citations, reviews and the map pack.
  • /seo drift saves a baseline of a page and later reports what changed.

With no API keys it works from fetched pages. Connect Google's free APIs with /seo google setup and it adds Search Console, PageSpeed, CrUX and GA4 data. Optional extensions bring in paid sources such as DataForSEO, SE Ranking and Profound, on your own account.

When to use it

  • A first full audit of a site you run, before you decide what to fix this quarter.
  • Checking structured data on page templates you're about to ship.
  • Comparing a page with a saved baseline after a redesign or a CMS update.

For a lighter audit bundled with copywriting and CRO, install the Marketing Skills set. If AI search is all you need, use GEO-SEO, and to write the posts, the same author's Claude Blog. Single checks also work in any chat with our SEO prompts, nothing to install.

How to install it

The README asks for Claude Code 1.0.33 or newer and Python 3.11 to 3.14. Inside a Claude Code session:

/plugin marketplace add AgriciDaniel/claude-seo
/plugin install claude-seo@agricidaniel-claude-seo
/seo setup

/seo setup builds the plugin's own Python environment and a headless Chromium, which the README says leaves the rest of your system alone, and /seo doctor checks them later. The README also gives a manual route: clone the repository and run install.sh, or install.ps1 on Windows.

Example request

Try it
/seo audit [your site URL]
The site is a [type of business] selling to [audience] in [country]. I care most about [indexation / speed / structured data / AI search]. After the report, list the five fixes to make first, each with the page it affects and how I'll know it worked.

Limits

  • Without Google API keys, the README says, Core Web Vitals are lab estimates and indexing is inferred from the page itself.
  • Five of the agents run on Opus, so a full audit uses more of your Claude plan than a one-page check. Each agent's model can be changed in its file.
  • The pages it reads go to Anthropic's model, like anything else in Claude Code, and some checks also read public sources such as Wikipedia and Reddit.
  • After a major report, the SKILL.md prints a footer linking the author's free and paid Skool communities. Members of the paid one get a private version with features earlier.
