Claude brand-guidelines skill
brand-guidelines is a short Anthropic example skill that applies Anthropic's own brand colors and fonts to what Claude makes. Its real value for everyone else is as a template: swap in your colors and fonts and you have a brand skill.
/plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skillsKeeping every deck and document on brand is a common reason teams write their first skill. Anthropic's brand-guidelines skill shows the pattern in about 300 words. As published, it applies Anthropic's own identity, so most readers will use it as a model and replace the values. It is an open-source example skill under the Apache 2.0 license. For the basics, read how Claude Skills work.
What the skill does
The SKILL.md holds a brand sheet and the rules for applying it:
- Main colors: dark
#141413for text and dark backgrounds, light#faf9f5, mid gray#b0aea5and light gray#e8e6dc. - Accents: orange
#d97757, blue#6a9bccand green#788c5d, which non-text shapes cycle through. - Type: Poppins for headings of 24 pt and larger, with Arial as the fallback, and Lora for body text, with Georgia as the fallback.
It also tells Claude to choose text color by background and to keep the document's heading hierarchy. The colors are applied as exact RGB values through the python-pptx library, which points to slides as the main target.
Make it your own
Copy the folder, rename it (for example acme-brand), and replace the color list and fonts with your style guide. Rewrite the description so Claude knows when to use it, such as "Use for any deck, document or chart made for Acme". Add a logo file or a slide template to the folder if you want Claude to reuse them. The skill-creator skill can test whether your version triggers on the right requests.
When to use it
- Company decks from the PowerPoint skill that need your colors every time.
- Charts and one-pagers for clients that must match your style guide.
If you have no brand yet and just want a clean, consistent look, theme-factory offers ten ready palettes. For campaign copy, see our marketing prompts.
How to install it
Claude.ai: the anthropics/skills README says its example skills are available on paid plans. To use your edited copy, zip the folder and upload it under Customize > Skills.
Claude Code: install the example set, or put your edited copy in ~/.claude/skills/:
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills
/plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skills
Example request
Copy the brand-guidelines skill into a new skill called [company]-brand. Replace the colors with [hex codes and their roles] and the fonts with [heading font] and [body font]. Rewrite the description so it triggers for any deck, document or chart made for [company].
Limits
- As shipped, it applies Anthropic's identity. Replace the values before using it for your own work.
- Poppins and Lora must be installed for the intended look. Without them, the skill falls back to Arial and Georgia.
- It covers colors and type only. Logo rules, tone of voice and layout are not in it.
