Grok, Cursor and X Premium are now one subscription

Elon Musk's AI company, now branded SpaceXSI, has folded Grok, the Cursor code editor and X Premium into a single plan. The X Subscription launched on October 12 in five tiers, from free to $200 a month, with one pool of usage shared across all three products. New Cursor customers can no longer buy the old Pro plan, and current subscribers keep what they have unless they switch.

What happened

On October 12, SpaceXSI announced The X Subscription: Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium "all on one plan". SpaceXSI is the new brand of SpaceX's AI arm, the company that started as xAI; x.ai's own pages now carry the SpaceXSI name, while the legal entity is still SpaceXAI LLC. Cursor became part of the same group when SpaceX completed its acquisition in August.

New customers can sign up now, and the plan is rolling out worldwide over a few days. Cursor's pricing page already shows only the new tiers.

The tiers

PlanPriceWhat you get
Free$0Daily Grok, starter Cursor allowance, standard X
Plus$8/mo
$80/yr
More usage, Grok models only; X checkmark, fewer ads
Premium$30/mo
$300/yr
4x Plus; SuperGrok + Cursor Pro + X Premium+ perks; video, Grok Bot, cloud agents, other models in Cursor
Super$100/mo
$1,000/yr
15x Plus, priority at peak times
Ultra$200/mo
$2,000/yr
50x Plus, earliest access to new models

SpaceXSI says Premium bundles what SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ gave, "previously $90/month combined".

Teams pay the same per seat for Premium, Super or Ultra, with SSO and admin controls. Enterprise is priced by sales.

How the usage works

  • One pool. Grok-model usage is shared between the Grok apps, the Grok tab on X and Cursor, so heavy coding in Cursor eats into your Grok chat and the other way round.
  • Grok models are included, others are not. Claude, GPT and other third-party models in Cursor need Premium or higher and are billed at API list price on top. Plus is Grok-only.
  • More Grok coding. SpaceXSI says every tier includes at least twice the coding usage with its own models of the comparable old Cursor plan.
  • Top-ups. Going past your plan is billed at API list price.

If you already pay for one of them

"Nothing changes for existing SuperGrok, Cursor, or X Premium subscribers," SpaceXSI says. You can keep your plan and price, or switch and get a prorated refund for the old one, with limited-time offers shown in billing settings as the option reaches your account. Cursor's documentation now calls Pro, Pro+, Ultra and the old Teams seats "legacy" plans that keep working for current customers.

Is it a good deal?

  • If you used Cursor with Claude or GPT: the new $30 Premium covers Cursor's editor and agents, but those models are billed per token on top. Check your usual model mix before switching from a legacy Pro plan.
  • If you paid for SuperGrok and Cursor separately: Premium at $30 replaces both, plus X Premium+.
  • If you only want a Grok chatbot: Plus at $8 is now the cheapest paid way in, but it doesn't include video or Grok Bot.
