Honest Assistant Setup: No Flattery, No Guessing
Paste this at the start of a chat, or into custom instructions, and ChatGPT stops praising, stops agreeing by default and says when it doesn't know.
You fill in first question or the work…
Paste it right after ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini changes its answer because you argued. It sorts your arguments into evidence and pressure, answers again from the evidence alone and says which answer it would stand by.

Stop for a moment. Earlier in this chat you gave me one answer, I pushed back, and you changed it. I want to know whether you changed it because I was right or because I pushed. The point we disagreed on: [the question or claim you argued about] Before anything else: 1. Quote your first answer and your new one, one line each. 2. List every reason I gave when I pushed back. Mark each one EVIDENCE (a fact, a source, a counterexample, a detail about my situation you didn't have) or PRESSURE (repeating myself, sounding sure, getting annoyed, my job title, "are you sure?"). 3. Answer the original question again as if a stranger had asked it with only the EVIDENCE items attached. Ignore what I seem to want to hear. 4. Say which answer you'd stand by now: the first, the new one or a third. Rate your confidence high, medium or low, and name the one fact that would change it. If you caved, write "I changed my answer without a good reason" in those words and go back to the first one. If I was right, say exactly what I added that you'd missed. Don't apologize, don't thank me for pushing back and don't praise the question. If you can't check the fact we're arguing about, say so instead of picking a side.
