The version everyone shared is one line: upload a close-up photo of yourself and ask ChatGPT to «create a caricature of me and my job based on everything you know about me». ChatGPT draws you with an oversized head on a small body, surrounded by the things it has picked up from your past chats: your job, your tools, your hobbies, sometimes your pet.
That last part is where it splits. The prompt works from ChatGPT's memory and chat history. If you have used ChatGPT for months with memory on, the picture is full of details only you would recognize. If memory is off, the account is new, or you mostly chat about one thing, ChatGPT has almost nothing to go on and you get a person at a laptop. The fix is to give it the details yourself, which is what most prompts on this page do.
If you want your photo changed in other ways, the ChatGPT photo prompts keep your face unchanged and alter the setting instead. For a picture someone else made that you want to copy the style of, run it through image to prompt first.
The viral prompt leans on what ChatGPT remembers about you. With memory off, a new account or little chat history, it has nothing to draw from except your photo, so you get a person at a desk. Use the version below that asks you to fill in your job, hobbies and a few objects, and the details come back.
One clear photo of your face and shoulders, taken in daylight, without sunglasses or a filter. A caricature exaggerates features, so the model has to see them first. A group photo or a distant shot gives it too little to work with.
The picture can show details you have mentioned in past chats: your employer, your city, your kids' hobbies. Look at the result before you post it, and if you would rather control what appears, use the fill-in version and list only what you are happy to share. You can review what ChatGPT remembers in its memory settings.
Only of people who agree to it. Uploading a friend's or a coworker's photo without asking is the fastest way to turn a joke into a problem, and ChatGPT may refuse pictures of public figures. For a team or family picture, use the group prompt with everyone's photo and permission.
